Elhadj BAK

Semba teacher based in Paris

We worked in two complementary directions. First: close portraits, designed to establish identity and trust. These images highlight Elhadj’s calm authority — the kind of strength that does not need to be loud.

Shooting...

This studio session with Elhadj Bak — Semba teacher based in Paris — was built around one clear objective: creating a strong, professional portfolio that reflects both the person and the instructor behind the dance.

Semba is not only movement; it is culture, connection, and elegance. The goal was to translate that identity into images without relying on clichés or over-stylized staging. Clean, direct, and authentic.

From the moment Elhadj arrived, the approach was simple: define the use of the photographs (book, social media, posters, workshop announcements), align on the message to communicate, then build a visual direction that supports it. We chose a minimalist studio setup on purpose — neutral background, controlled lighting, and sharp framing — because in portrait work like this, everything depends on presence. The face, the eyes, the posture, the quiet confidence of someone who leads others. When the composition is stripped down, what remains is truth.
